Experience with PSI Exams
Although I was using macOS Sequoia 15, which was not yet on the compatibility list and failed the compatibility check, I had a seamless experience hosting the exam on the PSI platform. From the quick 10-minute checkout process to the stable exam interface, there were no technical issues, allowing me to focus entirely on the questions. But I don’t recommend using incompatible software/hardware for certification, as you can have issues and lose your chance.
Preparation
To prepare, I turned to Microsoft Learn, which offers a wealth of resources tailored for GitHub. The content was detailed and extensive, but it provided the foundation I needed to succeed.
Key resources that helped me include:
- GitHub Administration on Microsoft Learn
- GitHub Administration Exam Study Guide (PDF)
- Github Administration Exam Preparation – Youtube
- Prepare for the GitHub Administration Certification on Linkedin
Also, I recommend registering for a trial Enterprise on Github and at least playing with the configurations, policies, organizations, and teams. It is very helpful.
Focus Areas for Study
During my preparation, I found that focusing on the following areas was critical:
- GitHub Enterprise: Gaining proficiency in both GitHub Enterprise Cloud and Server versions.
- User Management & Integrations: Deep knowledge of SSO, SAML integrations, and effective user management strategies.
- Support Structures: Understanding GitHub Support and GitHub Premium services.
Hands-On Experience: A Key Advantage
Although I hadn’t worked with every feature of GitHub Enterprise, my hands-on testing experience with core functionalities gave me a solid foundation. This practical knowledge allowed me to approach the exam questions confidently, bridging gaps in my theoretical understanding with real-world experience.
Your Turn: Share Your Experience
Are you certified in GitHub Administration, or do you intend to pass the exam? I’d love to hear about your experiences, challenges, and strategies. Sharing insights can be incredibly valuable for others preparing for the same journey.
